Step 1: Complete a Certified Firearms Safety Course:

 

• Begin your firearms licensing journey by enrolling in our Certified Basic Firearms Safety Course. This comprehensive program ensures you gain the necessary knowledge and skills for safe firearm handling.

Step 2: Download and Submit the Application:

 

• Download the application form provided and complete it accurately. Present the application, along with the certification you receive from our course, at the police department in your city or town of residence or business.

Step 3: Application Requirements:

Ensure your application includes the following information and documentation:

• Two personal references (when applicable).

• Details of past criminal convictions, felonies, domestic violence history, mental illness, or drug/alcohol addiction.

• Proof of completion of a Massachusetts state-certified firearms safety course.

• Requisite fee payment.

Step 4: Application Process and Timeline:

 

• Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed and either approved or denied within sixty (60) days from the date of application. To check your application status, contact the relevant department or the Department of Criminal Justice Information Services (DCJIS) at (617) 660-4722.

• License Validity: Upon approval, your Massachusetts firearms license will be valid for six (6) years, granting you the privilege and responsibility of firearm ownership.

• Get Your MA Firearms Permit: Enroll in our Basic Firearms Safety Class (LTC-007 or LTC-002), the mandatory course for obtaining your Firearms Certification in Massachusetts. This 4-hour class is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and responsible attitude necessary for safe firearm handling and ownership.
